The Truth Awards and Your Fear of What I Am

I am honored to direct the spoken word/performance art/ piece Your Fear of What I Am by Vincent Terrell Durham for the 2nd Annual Truth Awards presented by Better Brothers Los Angeles. Renovation Productions is producing Your Fear which will open the Truth Awards ceremony on March 5th at Tagylan Complex. Click the image below for more information on the event.

Chrissa in LA

I am trilled to announce that The Ladies Downstairs, the short film I directed last year starring Sarah Charles Hereford, has been accepted into the Los Angeles CineFest!

Return to Omaha

I'm so happy to announce that in September I'll return to Opera Omaha to again assist Michael Shell on his amazing Il Barbiere di Siviglia which draws inspiration from the films of Pedro Almodovar. While there I'll be joined by Maestro Stephen White, costume designer Amanda Seymour, light designer Driscoll Otto and singers John Moore, Sandra Piques Eddy, Andrew Bidlack, Matthew Burns, Peter Volpe, Katrina Thurman and Adam Cannedy.

Little Nemo in Slumberland

I am ecstatic to announce that I will be directing Hagen's opera Little Nemo in Slumberland for Pittsburgh's Creative and Performing Arts School (CAPA) thanks to a partnership with Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh!

The opera is based on the comic strips by Winsor McCay of the same title. Beginning in 1905 McCay released Nemo's adventures between the New York Herald and New York American until 1926. I will be working with the wonderful staff at CAPA including program head and music director Stephen Neely and lighting designer/theatre manager Christopher Howard as well as costumer Lacey Barker.

Another Summer, Another Summerfest

I will be returning to Opera Theater of Pittsburgh for a second year to serve as Production Stage Manager for Summerfest 2015

and like any sequel things have gotten bigger!

Again we will be at the Twentieth Century Club with The Marriage of Figaro, Capriccio and the new opera, A New Kind of Fallout, in rep in the

theater; meanwhile a gender-bender version of Damn Yankees will perform in the ballroom while the promenade version of Figaro Redux performs throuout the TCC. And don't forget the children's opera The True Story of Three Little Pigs, the recital series and nightly cabarets - luckily I'll have a staff of five assistant stage managers and a deputy stage manager to help make all this happen!

Il Mondo Della Luna

at Carnegie Mellon

I'm in the midst of stage managing Haydn's Il Mondo Della Luna for CMU School of Music with Stage Director Greg Lehane and Maestro Christopher Larkin. We are currently on hiatus until the spring semester begins with performances falling in late January 2015.

Dreams of Hope

and The Lavender Spell

I had the genuine honor of assisting director Adil Mansoor of Pittsburgh's Dreams of Hope's theatriQ ensemble consisting of LGBT and Allied students ages 13-21 mounting the devised play The Lavender Spell along with playwright Paul Kruse, music director Judith Avers and choreographer Maree ReMalia. Hit the link below for more info on Dreams of Hope and the wonderful things they are accomplishing.

Fidelio in Nebraska

April of 2015 will see the opening of Fidelio with Opera Omaha. I'm fortunate enough to serve as assistant director to Michael Shell with Maestro Nicholas Cleobury & scenery and costumes by world-renowned artist Jun Kaneko.

The Chicago Reader loves The Sister Twins

The Sister Twins recieved a great review from The Reader!

"An intimate play from Transcendent Ensemble Theatre Company revels in rituals—and their disruption."

"And rather than feed us some packaged message about gender, the show interchanges male and female actors, allowing our concepts of sexuality to flow rather than ebb. "We are going to devour father with total antimustache acceptance," says one daughter of the father, who's ultimately reduced to an inanimate black bowler."

"Originally performed as a ten-minute play in New York, the previous home of Transcendent Ensemble Theatre Company, The Sister Twins now runs about 45 minutes, 35 of which utilize repetition with Meisnerian gusto."

Wearing Multiple Hats with
Opera Theater of Pittsburgh's Summerfest 2014

For June and July I'll be Production Stage Manager for OTP's Summerfest

as well as directing a short opera with libretto by Stephen Webb in Happy Hour!

As PSM I will oversee 2 operas (Ariadne auf Naxos and The Merry Widow), 1 musical (The Fantasticks), an opera in workshop (A New Kind of Fallout), a children's show (The Jumping Frog of Calaveras County) and an interactive set of arias all set in a bar -- hence the term baria -- called Happy Hour!
